ORDINANCE NUMBER 467

 

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRANITE SHOALS, TEXAS, ADOPTING THE INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE 2006; THE INTERNATIONAL RESIDENTIAL CODE FOR ONE AND TWO FAMILY DWELLINGS 2006, WITH LOCAL AMENDMENT TO DELETE THE CHAPTERS ON PLUMBING AND ADOPT THE 2006 UNIFORM PLUMBING CODE; THE INTERNATIONAL MECHANICAL CODE 2006; INTERNATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION CODE 2006; THE INTERNATIONAL FIRE CODE 2006 AND THE NATIONAL ELECTRIC CODE 2005; PROVIDING FOR OVERSIGHT; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRANITE SHOALS, TEXAS:

 

SECTION I:

The International Building Code 2006 Edition, and all subsequent editions, is hereby adopted by the City of Granite Shoals and shall be in force and effect therein from and after date of effectiveness as hereinafter set up.

 

SECTION II:

The International Residential Code for One and Two Family Dwellings 2006 with Local Amendment to delete the chapters on plumbing and adopt the 2006 Uniform Plumbing Code and all current editions of those codes, except with Local Amendment, is hereby adopted by the City of Granite Shoals and shall in force and effect therein from and after date of effectiveness as hereinafter set up.

 

SECTION III:

The International Mechanical Code 2006 Edition, and all subsequent editions, is hereby adopted by the City of Granite Shoals and shall be in force and effect therein from and after date of effectiveness as hereinafter set up.

 

SECTION IV:

The International Energy Conservation Code, 2006 Edition, and all subsequent editions, is hereby adopted by the City of Granite Shoals and shall be in force and effect therein from and after date of effectiveness as hereinafter set up.

 

SECTION V:

The International Fire Code, 2006 Edition, and all subsequent editions, is hereby adopted by the City of Granite Shoals and shall be in force and effect therein from and after date of effectiveness as hereinafter set up.

 

SECTION VI:

The National Electric Code, 2005 Edition, and all subsequent editions, is hereby adopted by the City of Granite Shoals and shall be in force and effect therein from and after date of effectiveness as hereinafter set up.

 

SECTION VII:     OVERSIGHT

The oversight of any employee or official of the City of Granite Shoals for failure to require compliance with this ordinance shall not excuse the builder, plumber, electrician or other person from their obligations as set for in this ordinance.

 

SECTION VIII:    SEVERABILITY

If any provision, section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to any person or set of circumstances, is for any reason  held to be unconstitutional, void or invalid, the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance shall not be affected thereby, it being the intent of the City Council in adopting this ordinance that no portion thereof, or provisions or regulation contained therein, shall become inoperative or fail by reason of any unconstitutionality of any other portion hereof, and all provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable for that purpose.

 

SECTION IX:       REPEALER

This ordinance hereby repeals Ordinance Number 253 and all ordinances inconsistent with this ordinance.

 

SECTION X:        EFFECTIVE DATE

This ordinance shall become effective and shall be in full force and effect from and after date on which the caption thereof has been published in the official newspaper of the City of Granite Shoals.
