STREETS LIGHT EQUIPMENT OPERATOR/LABORER

    General Statement of Duties:
    Operate equipment engaged in the construction and maintenance of streets, including backhoe, dump truck, water truck, roller and chipper. Patch streets using asphalt cold mix. Create street signs. Assist with parks maintenance. Trim trees and brush.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • knowledge of methods, practices, equipment, and materials used in the maintenance of roadways and safe operation of equipment
    • ability to operate equipment used in street construction and maintenance
    • tolerate outside working conditions, including exposure to adverse weather conditions
    • communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public.

    Required Experience and Training:
    High school graduation or its equivalent plus two years of equipment operator experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

    Required Certificates and Licenses:

    • Valid Class B Texas commercial driver’s license (CDL).
    • Starting Salary:
    • $9.55 per hour

Police Officer

    General Statement of Duties:
    Directs operations of the patrol and animal control section of the police department; performs patrol and animal control duties as required.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • state statutes, city ordinances, and criminal law
    • department policies and procedures
    • standard office practices and procedures
    • community policing theory and application and first aid procedures
    • read manuals and interpret policies and procedures
    • write letters, memos, and instructions
    • evaluate emergency and other situations and make sound decisions
    • operate a police vehicle in emergency or high-speed situations
    • safely and effectively operate a firearm
    • operate other police-issued law enforcement equipment, including baton, handcuffs, radar unit, and cameras
    • perform basic mathematical calculations
    • communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
    • establish and maintain effective working relationships with other law enforcement and government officials, co-workers, and the general public
    • operate a computer using standard word processing and spreadsheet software.

    Required Experience and Training:
    High school graduation or its equivalent plus at least one year of police experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

    Required Certificates and Licenses:
    Basic certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE); and valid Texas driver’s license or available alternate means of transportation.

    Starting Salary:
    $16.25 per hour

CITY MANAGER

    The City of Granite Shoals currently seeks City Manager for a Home Rule city with 30 full-time employees and $9 million budget. The City Manager will serve as Chief Administrative Officer of the City and will be responsible to the City Council for administration of all the affairs of the City.

    Previous City Manager or Assistant City Manager experience is required and/or a baccalaureate degree in public administration, business administration or a related field. While it is preferable that the City Manager be a resident of the City, residency is not required.
