Animal Control
Because residents and visitors in the city of Granite Shoals are able to share their surroundings with both domestic and wild animals, the role of Animal Control is vital to ensure safe human and animal interaction. Officer Kirkpatrick is charged with the task of promoting and protecting public safety and animal care through both education and law enforcement through the Granite Shoals Police Department. Her duties include monitoring rabies.

Key duties of the animal control officer include:
  • Transferring strays and abandoned pets to the local Animal Control Facility
  • Monitoring rabies and other infectious animal diseases
  • Educating the public about vaccination and city registration.
  • Enforcement of state laws and city ordinances

The department does not operate a shelter for or perform wild animal removal unless rabies is suspected.

Visit the Christ-Yoder Animal Adoption Center for more details and information.

Non Domestic Animals or Deer
With Questions Regarding Deer, please call Non-Emergency Police Dispatch at 830-598-4818.   The City will respond to injured or dead deer depending on personnel available and the hazard posed by the animal.   Here is the New Policy.   The City cannot address issues with other non-domesticated animals.
