Granite Shoals is a growing Texas Hill Country community located on beautiful Lake Lyndon B. Johnson ( Lake LBJ ). The city is home to young families and retirees, and also is a destination for vacation homes. Granite Shoals is a home rule municipality with approximately 5,025 inhabitants.

Along with the beautiful bluebonnets and other spring and summer wildflowers, residents and visitors alike are offered a variety of recreational opportunities.

Granite Shoals has 19 city parks, which are perfect for fishing, swimming, picnicking or launching your boat.

Originally named Lake Granite Shoals for the natural granite outcroppings that formed parts of the lake’s shorelines, Lake LBJ was renamed in 1965 to honor the 36th President of the United States. It was created by the completion of Alvin Wirtz Dam in 1951, and covers 6,534 acres with nearly sixty miles of shoreline. The lake remains virtually constant at about 825 feet above msl.

Granite Shoals is located in the Capital Area Planning Region, and is located off R.M. 1431. It is located approximately 6 miles west of Marble Falls and 17 miles from the Burnet County seat of Burnet, Texas. Granite Shoals is about 50 miles west of Austin and 80 miles north of San Antonio .
