Message from the Chief of Police / About the Chief

The City of Granite Shoals is served by a highly-trained, professional police force whose officers are dedicated to ensuring the safety of all of those who live, visit, and work within the City of Granite Shoals. Our department is committed to working with the citizens of Granite Shoals to enhance the safety of the community and provide an exceptional level of service to our citizens.

The police department consists of the chief of police, two patrol sergeants, one criminal investigation sergeant, four patrol officers, and one animal control officer. The police department provides high-visibility patrol of the City of Granite Shoals, responds to calls for service, enforces traffic laws, investigates crime, and monitors registered sex offenders among other duties and responsibilities. The department also conducts high-visibility patrol and enforcement activities on Lake LBJ during peak spring and summer months.

The Granite Shoals Police Department is a recognized law enforcement agency by the Texas Police Chief’s Association. Our department became the 118th recognized agency in the State of Texas in October of 2015. The recognition program requires agencies to prove compliance with 166 Best Business Practices for Law Enforcement. The Best Practices are a compilation of practices which  address the twelve critical areas of law enforcement that form basis of legal action against police.  Compliance with these Best Practices reduces risk. This program provides a benchmark for professional Texas Law Enforcement and facilitates an agency’s pursuit of professional excellence. Additionally, it assures the citizens of a community, the Manager, Mayor and Council of a high quality of service from their police agency. Further it ensures well developed policies and procedures that meet or exceed the Best Practices for Texas Law Enforcement and that employees are provided clear and appropriate guidance.

The police department is located at 410 N. Phillip’s Ranch Rd. While the police department provides 24-hour service and patrol, the station does not provide 24-hour lobby service. For emergency police and fire assistance, dial 9-1-1 twenty-four hours a day. For non-emergency police assistance, please contact our dispatch at 830-598-4818.
